Our Neighbors Puppies

A couple weeks ago our neighbors dog Scout had eight puppies. They are labs and are all very adorable. The kids have enjoyed playing with them, but they will soon be going to new homes so they won't be around for much longer. Here are some pictures of the kids spending time with them in our front yard. They haven't all sold yet, so if your interested in a new puppy let us know :)

1-2

Philadelphia, PA-- After an 0-2 start, the Eagles roared to a 56-21 win on Sunday over the Detroit Lions.

The Eagles offense, which had scored only 25 points in the first two games, had 21 points in the each of the first two quarters. Running back Brian Westbrook had two touchdowns rushing and one receiving as he posted his second career 100-yard rushing/100-yard receiving game. Wide receiver Kevin Curtis tied an NFL record for most receiving yards in the first half with 205, he also had a total of three touchdowns.

The Eagles defense did allow 21 points to the league's top-rated passing attack, but they sacked quarterback Jon Kitna nine times to tie a team record. Defensive end Trent Cole tied a team record with 4.5 sacks.

I think all Philly fans are breathing a sigh of relief after this win. We needed a game like this to keep our spirits up. But it doesn't get any easier next week against the Giants.

Uh-Oh... 0-2

Philadelphia, PA.- Problems in the red zone hurt the Eagles as they dropped a 20-12 decision to the Washington Redskins on Monday night to fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Eagles failed to convert a touchdown on all four chances inside the Redskins' 20-yard line as on the Eagles' final drive of the game, quarterback Donovan McNabb's pass over the middle to wide receiver Kevin Curtis fell incomplete. McNabb finished 28 for 46 for 240 yards, but with no touchdowns or interceptions. Brian Westbrook had 96 rushing yards and 66 receiving to lead the Eagles in both categories.

Donovan McNabb was not sharp at all in this game. He missed lots of open receivers and he just looked slow! His knee injury has really hampered him this year. Maybe my dad is right... Kevin Kolb will be their quarterback sooner than later???

Abbey's First Makeup Experience

Today Abbey had her first experience with makeup. Mommy accidentally left her mascara on a table in the living room and the temptation of it sitting there with no one in sight was too much for her to handle. She intently watches mommy each day while she puts her makeup on and now was her chance to try. She actually got a little on her eyelashes, but I guess that wasn't too hard since it was pretty much every where else... what a mess! After having "a talk" with her about it, she posed for a quick picture shoot before mommy cleaned her up.

First Week of School

Jacob's first day of preschool was Tuesday, and boy was he excited for it. He had a lot of fun and really enjoyed wearing his backpack to school. Shelley did a great job of staying strong and not crying. I couldn't believe it! Jacob will be going to school each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It is from 9:00-11:30 so it is just the right amount of time. It is a big adjustment for all of us to have him gone three mornings a week, but we think it's a change that he's ready for.

0-1

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Special teams miscues cost the Eagles in the opener as Green Bay edged Philadelphia, 16-13, on Mason Crosby's 42-yard field goal with six seconds left in the fourth quarter. Two fumbles on punt returns accounted for 10 of Green Bay's points. It's definitely a frustrating loss, but the season is still young. Coach Reid needs to re-group his team and bring them back for the home opener next week against Washington. I predict a big win for the Birds next week. (I think what might be even more frustrating, is having to watch yahoo update the scores over the internet and not being able to watch the live game!)

Summer Is Winding Down

Since Fall is soon approaching, we are taking advantage of these last days of summer. Today Jim and the kids washed the van and had fun with the hose while working. The last couple days have been in the low 90's here, so it has been a fun ending to summer. We are looking forward to all that comes along with Fall..... sweatshirts, chili, pumpkins, football, mums, and colorful leaves.
