Jim and Jacob

I am so thankful for a husband who takes care of his things and instills these values into his children.  Jim always enjoys taking care of our yard and he teaches Jacob how to do these kinds of things everyday.  Not only does he allow Jacob to help him do these jobs, but he talks him through what he's doing so Jacob will be able to take care of our yard as he gets older and his own yard one day.  Jim and Jacob spend a lot of time together working on projects around the house, both in and out and I know when Jacob (and Micah) are grown and out of the house, they will be well equipped to help their wives in taking care of their own homes.  I have been trying to be very intentional lately about teaching Abbey how to care for a home on the inside.  She does laundry with me, helps with cleaning and even helps a little in preparing our meals (as much as she can at this point).  It is easier sometimes for Jim and I to just do things ourselves, but in the long run, we will have lots of wonderful memories and children who know how to help in taking care of a home and how to care for their things.

Us with our sweet Abbey who was diagnosed with leukemia on Oct. 2nd, 2008

Welcome To Our Family Blog

We created this blog several years ago as a way to keep our friends and family in the loop of what was going on in our lives here in Ohio.

On October 2nd, 2008 our 3 year old daughter Abbey was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (A.L.L.). Through her 2 years 3 months of treatment our blog became a way to journal our journey and update family and friends on how she was doing. We ended up meeting so many amazing people through this blog and were encouraged and prayed for from people around the world.

On January 8th, 2011, Abbey finished treatment! She is cancer free and she is a healthy, beautiful, amazing 6 year old. We couldn't be more thankful for her life and the blessing that she is :).

What started as a fun way to connect with others, turned into a lifeline as we walked a very difficult road with our Abbey. Thankfully now life has returned back to "normal" and we will continue to use our blog to update about this life that God has given us. Thanks for stopping by!
